There are many barriers to MFL teaching and learning in the UK context. From misinformation that languages are either for the “elite academics” or not valuable at all in the monolingual world, to the misconceptions that languages are more difficult or aren’t accessible to EAL or SEN students.
This CPD day will focus on breaking those barriers and addressing how we can put languages on the map.
Our esteemed speakers will consider classroom-specific strategies, curriculum-led approaches and school-wide policies that not only break those language barriers but display the wealth of our culturally-rich subject to our students, schools and parents.

However, recent data indicates that close to a third of teachers leave the profession within their first five years (The Institute for Fiscal Studies, June 2023). The demands of the role, coupled with the steep learning curve, can feel overwhelming without the right guidance and support.
